Brief History
Perry’s Mill Ponds is a group of small bodies of water that feeds the Mill River basin. The ponds themselves rarely get deep, however, some depths of thirty feet have been recorded. This supports the theory that the ponds were formally quarries that were later abandoned. The property received its name when it was bought by Joseph Perry, who turned the location into a Mill. Joseph built a dam that would power his grain mill. The last Perry to own the residence sold the property in 1949 where it would later become a public property, offering a slide of wilderness in an otherwise “suburban” region.
